Runway & Taxiway Project – October to December 2025

We are excited to share details about upcoming improvements at Fairhope Airport:

  • October 20 - November 30: Due to required back-taxiing, no closed pattern work is allowed during this timeframe, to include: touch-and-goes, low approaches, etc.

  • October 20 – October 26: Taxiway Alpha will be closed as it is transitioned into a temporary runway.  You will be required to back-taxi along runway 1/19.

  • October 27th, 0800-1200: Complete field closure.

  • October 27th, 1200: Field reopens. Runway 1/19 will be closed.  Temporary runway 2/20 will be open.

  • October 27th – November 26: The main runway will be closed for reconstruction. During this time, Taxiway Alpha will serve as the temporary runway (2/20). (See taxi diagrams below)

  • November 26: The main runway will re-open, fully upgraded and ready for use.

Temporary Runway Operations - runway 2/20 (October 27 - November 26):

  • Daytime VFR only

  • 12,500 lb weight limit

  • 3,000 ft length

  • Effective October 20, there will be no closed traffic patterns allowed, to include: touch and goes, low approaches, etc.  This will remain in effect throughout the project due to required back-taxiing.  Contact the airport manager with any questions/concerns.

FBO Hours During Runway Closure:

  • 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily

Major Upgrades Coming Soon:

  • Increased runway weight capacity to 90,000 lbs

  • New runway lighting and PAPIs for enhanced safety

  • New taxiway lighting throughout the field

  • All new signage for improved clarity and operations

  • Refer to the attached taxi diagrams for updated routing when the temporary runway is in use.
